In this book, Alicia breaks away from the Clique (Massie, Dylan, and Kristen) and decides to form her own clique. Massie is dumbstruck and doesn't know what to do because of this loss. Massie comes up with many devious plans. One for Alicia, one for her crush, and many more. Of course, with Alicia gone, Massie needs every possible effort to get revenge and torture her. So guess who she joins up with and eventually befriends? Sorry, can't tell...you have to read the book to find out. But I can tell one thing. Massie, Dylan, Kristen, Alicia, her friend Olivia and Massie's new friend are invited by the Teen People magazine to be the models for the front cover of the latest magazine edition. To find out what happens in this exciting book, you've gotta read it!

Review:

It's a great book! When I read the part where Massie joins up with someone, I was shocked about who that person was. It makes sense, but it made me feel great knowing that they were friends. But Massie is preoccupied with other stuff. Like boyfriends and crushes and parties and stuff like that. She is told that some of the other girls in the grade think that Massie is not living up to the "popularity standards" because she hasn't had a boy-girl party yet. Ah-bviously, Massie decides to have a boy-girl party and invite all the girls in her school and boys from the neighboring school. Of course, this isn't her only problem. She's got to deal with tons of things...like her crush, Kuh-Laire, a uniform contest in her school, and more. Want to know what happens in this thrilling sequel? Read Best Friends for Never!

Review:

Like The Clique, this book is excellent. You're always wondering what's going on and what's going to happen. Doon gets the job of messenger, a very cool job for other people. But not for him. Lina gets to be a Pipeworks Laborer, a dreaded job, although Doon wants it, because the Pipeworks are underground, and it's also where the generator is kept. It generates the power of the city, and the light. Outside of Ember is total darkness. For years the light of the city has been strong, but it's starting to flicker now. And soon, they might go out for good. One day, Lina's little sister finds a box in a closet and starts to chew on the paper inside it. When Lina finds her, she stops her and keeps the paper , thinking it is interesting. It is ripped up, because of Lina's little sister, but Lina still tries to decipher it. Doon helps her, and soon they realize it is the instructions to the way out of Ember, to escape Ember and find a new world. They find their way out of Ember and then realize that The whole city of Ember is underground. They then find a hole on the surface in which they can see their city through. They drop a note down, telling all about the way out and how to get there. Then, the books ends with one of the townspeople that was like a mother to Lina finding the note and opening it.

Review:

I loved this book and recommend it to everyone.

Ishrak, Grade 6
